The Gambian Islamic Community in SMETHWICK has been trying to purchase a MASJID for the past 9 years.

 

Since 2014, the Gambian Community has been renting out a hall to space muslims to pray their 5 daily prayers, teach children the Quran and hold conferences.

 

However, due to the expansion of the community, this space is no longer sufficient to hold everyone. The masjid currently houses 300 worshippers.

 

Every Friday, Muslims travel far to this masjid, yet they are forced to pray on the outside due to space.

 

This is why we've taken the initiative to start the "BUY A MASJID BY 2025 Project"- where we aim to buy a building in the local community to house the worshippers and establish a permanent community where we can teach our kids the religion in the North-West Region of Birmingham.

 

Currently, we've raised £400,000 from our local community's efforts alone. However, buildings in this area fall in region of £600,000 - £750,000.

 

And the scary thing, this number is ever increasing by the year.

 

This is why we are starting a "BUY A MASJID BY 2025" project to raise the funds needed to finally purchase a permanent place to house the worshippers.

 

Truth be told, if tomorrow the landlord tells us to leave the premises, we have nowhere else to go. This is the anxiety and reality that worshippers have to face every single day.
